Paris Hilton beer ad pulled

Just days after Gossip Cop reported there was a brew ha ha over an ad Paris Hilton did for a Brazilian beer company comes word that the commercial has been pulled off the air.
In the spot for Devassa beer, Hilton was in a little black dress, rubbing a beer can across her body while standing in the window of an office building as people on the street and in another office gawked at her.

The ad was yanked after public complaints and objections from the Brazilian watchdog agency, Conar, which has been successful in banning beer ads that portray its subjects as “sex objects.”
As Gossip Cop noted a few days ago, while several Brazilian ads have featured women dressed in itsy bitsy bikinis while hawking beer on the beach, when it came to the Hilton ad, Conar said the problem “isn’t a lack of clothing, but its sensual nature… A woman in a bikini on a beach isn’t necessarily sensual; it depends on the context.”

Apparently, the context of rubbing a beer can all over one’s clothed body in an office building is more offensive than jiggling bikini-clad women trying to sell suds on a beach.

Who knew?
